An Evolving Media Product
Just like the prints, the online papers each have plug, however the printed papers are still very different to the online papers. For example; the prints cost money whereas the online stories are free, the print are obviously on paper which is fairly thin which makes them ephemeral and easily ruined, however online the stories are indestructible and to some extent, permanent.
The Daily Mail:
Firstly, The Daily Mail have different links at the top which take you to different places on the website, (home, news, U.S, sport etc) where different stories and headlines are shown, this is different to the print as each section is divided by the pages, and are less efficient to find than online as they're just one click away. There are many more stories online than in the paper, you can see stories from weeks ago but also see the most recent ones, the printed papers only have the most recent stories that are printed. Also, the daily mail has a login button, so you can login to your account and get stories and such based on what you have looked at before. The daily Mail online also has a comment and share section as you may see on the screen grab below, people have shared the stories and commented their opinions, you are able to share these stories on other social medias such as twitter, this s useful as it makes more people aware of the issues, non- news readers who go on social media are still able to be aware of the local and global news. The target market for the online paper could be larger as the internet is more widely used, more people would log onto their device and search the news rather than walk to the shop and have to buy a paper. The daily mail stories from the printed papers and the online papers are slightly different, some are the same, but as the daily mail isn't always based on the facts like the guardian the stories are not expected to be the exact same.

The Guardian:
The Guardian has relatively the same differences as The Daily Mail, The Guardian has a 'subscribe' button which is good for daily users who like to keep on top of the news because they will probably get notifications etc. of the news most days. The guardian also has options such as; 'become a supporter' and 'jobs' which are unable to access on a printed newspaper. The online newspaper also has constant updates of the weather, the printed newspapers would only be able to print the weather as it was that day it was printed or the forecast for the future. The printed copy of the newspaper can only have so many pages, images and text because the ink and the paper costs money, the online copy of the newspaper can have as many images, as much writing, and as many pages as they want, this is because they would not have to pay for the ink or anything, just the cost of keeping up a website. The target market for the online paper could be a lot larger than the printed paper, this is because more people nowadays tend to go on the internet and have more devices able to do that, rather than walk down to the shop to buy a newspaper. The Guardian are based on facts and are less biased than the daily mail, therefore the stories from the online articles to the printed articles are the same or similar.
