Hush Evaluation

Our TV Drama is a thriller TV show, including moments which may scare some viewers, however is still mainly focused on the story rather than the horror, so would still be suitable for a larger range of viewers.
Our title sequence would be approximately 4 minutes into the show so there is action before hand preparing the viewers and keeping them interested for the rest of the show, this is similar to many other TV shows and is a very effective way of introducing the episode in an exciting way.
The Mise-en-Scene fits to our genre because the setting is in an asylum which is a thriller type place and is suitable for the plot of the story. The story is set in the 1970s as it is suitable for what we want the characters to wear, also it is set in that time as it is more of a creepy year than the modern day with the technology we have now. asylums would have things such as dolls and old fashioned games which could be considered scary and would typically be in an old horror movie. The programme would probably be rated a 15 because even though it wouldn't contain sex scenes or much swearing, it would contain violence and would be unsuitable for under 15 as it could give them nightmares. The TV show should appeal to 15 and over thrill seekers and it may be interesting to those who like shows such as stranger things and murder mystery type shows.
The title 'hush' implies that the show may be scary and that it may be dark, and suitable for the older ages, otherwise the show would be called something happier and less creepy.
The TV Drama we mainly referred to for inspirations was stranger things, this is because stranger things is a thriller also and has multiple obstacles the characters have to face.
The director would use editing techniques such as; cross- cutting, fast-paced editing, and cut, these techniques are most suitable for the genre of our show. The camera shots to be used would be; and establishing shot, hand-held camera, and shallow focus, these camera techniques will be good for the thriller, especially the hand-held camera as it produces a shaky effect t make the audience feel like they are in the action themselves. The sound techniques used would be; non-diegetic sound, this would be used for effect to show the tense build up of certain scenes and moments, to help create suspense.
The strengths of our title sequence include:
-The title sequence shows what the show is likely to be about but still has a sense of mystery, which makes the audience interested in what will happen during the show and keep them interested.
-Another strength to our title sequence is the camera shots, there are many different camera shots that will have an effect on the audience, keeping the audience tense and unsure about what would happen next.
-Many editing techniques are necessary for the title sequence which is a benefit because it may keep the audience interested as a variation prevents boredom as the viewers should always have to be alert.

Some weaknesses of our title sequence include:
-The show is only suitable for about ages 15 and over, therefore decreasing our target market, the title sequence even includes some creepy features.
-Another weakness of the title sequence is that it involves only one type of sound, non-diegetic sound, this may be a disadvantage because some viewers prefer a mix of sounds or dialogue, the sound is non-diegetic to build suspense and tension for the audience, unfortunately however it may bore particular viewers.
