Dance Music Video Analysis
Lullaby- Sigala, Paloma Faith
This video follows many of the conventions of dance music videos, colourful, good vibes and generally on holiday or in a location that the audience would wish to be in themselves. Dance is involved in this video, more in the middle and towards the end of the video, The colours the main women is wearing is bright yellow, which have connotations of happiness and energy, which is evidently what dance makes you feel like. The idea of the sun coming through the blinds emphasizes the beauty of the place and works as a spotlight for the singer in the video, this natural lighting is used making it seem more realistic to the audience. Some of the camera shots used are mid shots, from the shoulders upwards, and may have been used to show the expressions on their face whilst singing the song, possibly linking with the lyrics. Additionally, some long shots are used of the full body, showing the dances being performed and the body language from the character.
Breathe- Jax Jones
This video is firstly set in a very expensive building, where dances take place between two individuals. The buildings they dance in seem to be fairly plain, making the clothing they are wearing, stand out with the bright colours. This may show that the location of which they dance is irrelevent, as they dance in many different random places, it is the energy that the dance creates that is significant to the video. Neither of the characters in the video are the singer of the song, possibly implying that the craved feeling in the lyrics is common and most people feel it.
Wavey- CLiQ
This video is slightly different from traditional dance music videos. The video is based in a club, where everyone is dressed in many colours and dancing, which are normal conventions of dance music. An inflatable is used in the video, possibly to be slightly different however, it may be used to describe the feeling of being, 'wavey' as they move around quite regularly as though they are having a good time. The camera does a 360 rotation a few times in the video, conveying the wavey, yet fun feeling. All the characters constantly seem as though they are having a good time throughout the video, and is emphasized through the vibes and lighting of the club they are in, bright, multi coloured, flickering lights.
