Analysing Advertisements

The text, 'In a different league' is large and yellow to draw attention to it so the audience can read it clearly, the colours are used as they are the colours of the lucozade sport bottle and therefore the audience immediately see the resemblance between the advert and the brand. The camera shot is straight on, with the man looking directly at the camera which can be seen as intimidating for the audience and therefore may make the audience feel as though they must pay attention, this specific camera angle shows the man's focus and determination after having lucozade, implying that he has been playing sport, he has a sweat on and looks focused. The text, 'In a different league' may be a football reference as Gareth Bale is a footballer who players for Real Madrid, and is the most expensive footballer ever, they will have used Bale because it will be more appealing to the audience because they will aspire to be as good as him. The text also refers to the isotonic drink being 'in a different league' implying it is better than any other sports drinks. The lighting is used in an effective way where Gareth Bale is lit up more than the background because he is the face of the drink and his facial expression makes the advert. The blue background is used because it is not only the colour of lucozade but it also makes the text and Bale stand out more and they are in the 'spot light'. The background is also blue because it has a connotation of refreshment as well as the yellow which has a connotation of energy.

This advertisement is trying to get the audience to become aware of the charity. The three posters have the same layout, they have a face as the main background and the red writing, and the same copy at the bottom of the poster.  The main colour in the advertisement is red, this makes it stand out against the background image. Red relates to the colour of the charity which is used so the charity is memorised in the audience's mind. Red is an emotionally intense colour, the colour of extremes which is suitable for this advertisement as homelessness is extreme living, red has connotations of love, this may imply the charity is looking for love from the audience to generously give and help save lives. Red also has connotations of danger which suggests to the audience that becoming homeless is dangerous, examples of dangerous situations homeless people get themselves into include, drugs and mainly in female's cases, prostitution.
Generally, there is more copy in these advertisements than others; however this makes the poster emotive as there are examples of how people become homeless and tells you how to avoid homelessness in this particular example. The copy includes information on how to donate money and encourages it, 'now', to help the cause. The larger text first draws the audience in to then read the rest of the smaller text.
The poster includes the noun, 'face' is used which acts as a pun as the picture is of a face, this makes the poster more memorable to the audience.
The text is in sans serif font, and although the text is made large and bold, it is transparent, so the audience can still see the person's face, this may have been used to show to emptiness in the person's eyes. Each actor in this advertisement has a blank expression on their face, which will have been instructed by the photographer or director of the pictures. Each poster only has one image, the face of each person, the image shows the persons face in a close up shot, their faces seem to be full of worry and giving the impression that they need help. The image is monotone as the people are featured pale with dark hair which brings the posters to around three colours which makes the poster fairly simple however effective.
